Clark County sheriff’s deputies have apprehended the other suspect believed to be involved in a stabbing at a Hazel Dell bar late last week.

Ceaser A. Gonzalez, 24, appeared in Clark County Superior Court today on suspicion of first-degree assault and first-degree robbery.

Judge Robert Lewis held him in the Clark County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail and appointed Vancouver attorney Gerry Wear to defend him.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the parking lot of Three Monkeys Tavern, 7917 N.E. Highway 99, at about 11:45 p.m. Nov. 21 after a reported altercation. When they arrived, they found a 41-year-old man with stab wounds to his torso and extremities.

In a hospital interview, the victim told investigators that he was attacked when he confronted two Hispanic males in the bar’s parking lot because he suspected that they had stolen his two cellphones, which he had set on top of the bar, according to court documents. He said he attempted to take his phone from Gonzalez’s hand.

According to court documents, Gonzalez responded by repeatedly punching the victim in the head and knocking him to the ground. Gonzalez said he jumped on top of the victim and continued to strike him,. Apolonio “Polo” Luna-Ruelas allegedly then stabbed the victim multiple times. Both assailants were gone when sheriff’s deputies arrived.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, said sheriff’s Detective Chris Luque in a court affidavit. The victim’s condition was not available.

A pedestrian found one of the victim’s phones Sunday in the 4600 block of Northeast 15th Avenue. The pedestrian was able identify the phone’s owner by looking at text messages and returned it to the victim. Sheriff’s detectives later recovered the other phone in the same area, Luque wrote. The phones are valued at about $1,200, Luque said.

Luna-Ruelas, 22, of Vancouver was arrested Sunday on suspicion of first-degree assault and first-degree robbery.

“It was all me; I cut him,” Luna-Ruelas confessed, according to court documents.

Both defendants are scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Dec. 5.
