BEAVERTON, Ore. — The Nike LeBron 12 made its long-awaited debut Friday.
The 12th signature basketball shoe for the Cleveland Cavaliers star had been scheduled for release this fall but was delayed because of what Nike called “a cosmetic issue.” Sneaker blogs suspected the issue was that James’ jersey number from his Miami Heat days appeared in tiny type on the sole of the shoe.
James personally introduced the shoe in September at the Nike World Headquarters.
Then the company in early November set a release date for Cyber Monday. Then, about a week ago, the release date was changed to Black Friday.
This shoe has been dubbed the LeBron 12 NSRL — for the Nike Sports Research Lab.
In addition to the LeBron 12, Friday also marked the release of the Jordan 6 “Black Infrared,” a $185 re-issue of a classic entry in the line of shoes from the Jordan Brand, a Nike subsidiary.
