Battle Ground — Student Transportation Inc. will honor school bus driver Veronica Mirehouse with an awards dinner and a place on its Safety Wall of Fame in Asbury Park, N.J., later this fall. Mirehouse is one of just 11 inductees selected from manager nominations of the “best and brightest” at 130 company locations around the nation. Criteria for an award included exemplary safety practices, accident-free service, community service, perfect attendance, good character and attitude and exceptional performance. Her manager, J.R. Gregory, said Mirehouse “is the epitome of team spirit” thanks to the fundraisers, spirit days and other special projects and efforts she undertakes. “Veronica has been a bus driver for 18 years and I have worked with her the whole 18 years and she has always been an upbeat person and pleasure to be around,” Gregory said. Driving the school bus really is her “dream job,” Mirehouse said: “Not many people know what they are meant to do, but I’ve known since I was little.”
