MONROE, Conn. — Police are working to determine who called in a bomb threat to the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Monroe.

Monroe police Lt. Brian H. McCauley said the call was received at 9:39 a.m. and as a precaution the students were moved from the school to the neighboring Monroe School. They’ll finish their day at Monroe School, police said.

The school and ground were checked and no evidence of any bomb was found, McCauley said.

“Our investigation will continue into the call and caller,” McCauley said.

Sandy Hook students have attended school in Monroe since the tragedy on Dec. 14, 2012, when a gunman entered Sandy Hook and fatally shot 20 students and six educators.

Sandy Hook School in Newtown was razed and a new school is to be built.
