The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man whose decomposed body was found at a former rest area along Interstate 5 as a Vancouver man.

The body of Craig Centers, 43, was found Sept. 24 next to the Interstate 5 exit ramp to Fourth Plain Boulevard. The cause and manner of death are still pending further investigation.

A transient found Centers’ body at a former rest area next to baseball and softball fields used by Clark College in an area described as a transient camp. Motorists can’t access the area, which is blocked off by concrete barriers, Trooper Will Finn said.

The Washington State Patrol’s local criminal detectives are working with the medical examiner’s office to investigate the death.
