A Woodland food bank is expanding its hours and services this fall as colder weather descends upon Southwest Washington.
The Woodland Action Center, a volunteer-based food bank and community service center, offers help for those in need of food, clothes, personal care items, household goods and a variety of other commodities. Woodland Action’s food bank, which is open only on Tuesdays, is expanding its hours to 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Andreas Gast, the chairman of the center’s board, said the change is necessary to help those putting in longer hours on the job nowadays.
“Recent studies show that over half of employed Americans work more than 40 hours a week,” Gast said in a press release. “And more and more people who do work still can’t make ends meet. With these facts in mind, Woodland Action is pleased to be able to extend its food distribution hours into the evening.”
