Prep highlights: Ochoa’s overtime goal lifts Ridgefield to win

Victory over Hockinson puts Spudders on top

Madi Ochoa scored in overtime to lift Ridgefield to a 4-3 win over visiting Hockinson in a Tuesday match between the leaders of the Class 2A Greater St. Helens League.

The result means the Spudders (6-0) lead the Hawks (5-1) by one game at the midpoint of the league schedule.

Ridgefield led 2-0 at halftime on goals by Kara Klaus and Jordyn Voyles. Rylee Seekins scored three second-half goals for Hockinson, two from assists by Peyton Merringer.

Voyles scored in the second half for Ridgefield and had the assist on the game-winner.

• Taylor Kernion, Skyview girls soccer, scored two goals in the Storm’s 3-0 win over Battle Ground.

• Austin Blankenship, Columbia River cross country, posted a 50-second victory, winning in 15:12 to help the Chieftains beat Kelso.

• Ben Gruher, Union boys golf, shot a 1-under 36 at Tri-Mountain to lead Union to win over Skyview.

• Megan McDaid-O’Neill, Seton Catholic soccer, had one goal and an assist in Seton’s 2-0 win over Stevenson.

• Makayla Woods, Union soccer, had three goals and two assists in the Titans’ 6-1 win over Evergreen.

• Lauren Harris, Camas volleyball, supplied 11 kills, 15 digs, five aces, and two blocks in the Papermakers’ sweep of Evergreen.

• Shelby Vermeulen, La Center soccer, made nine saves as the Wildcats held off King’s Way Christian 2-1 in a match between the top teams in the Trico League.

• Brooke Van Sickle, Battle Ground volleyball, had 17 kills to help the Tigers sweep Union.

• Marion Lilly, Columbia River girls soccer, had a goal and an assist in River’s 5-0 win over Prairie in the 3A GSHL opener.

• Megan McDaid-O’Neill, Seton Catholic girls soccer, had a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win over Stevenson in Trico League play.
