Clark County nurses finalists for Nurse of the Year

About a dozen local nurses are finalists for Nurse of the Year awards from the March of Dimes.

The organization received 430 nominations; 188 finalists remain. Eighteen nurses will receive Nurse of the Year honors — one in each of 17 categories and one Distinguished Nurse of the Year.

The awards are for nurses in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

The local finalists are: Carla Brim of Vancouver for advance practice at PeaceHealth System Office in Vancouver; Carol Chace of Vancouver for adult acute care at Portland Adventist Medical Center; Sandra Dykes of Battle Ground for hospice, home health, long term care, rehab and palliative care at Portland Adventist Medical Center; Sherilyn Holm of Vancouver for ambulatory care/clinic care at Portland Adventist Medical Center; Hillary McMurtry of Vancouver for women’s health at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center; Samantha Owens of Vancouver for student nurse at Kaiser Permanente Northwest; Brenda Redinger of Battle Ground for adult acute care at Portland Adventist Medical Center; Wendy Skreko of Vancouver for adult acute care at Portland Adventist Medical Center; Erin Smith of Brush Prairie for critical care and emergency at Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel; Mardee Stirling of Battle Ground for ambulatory care/clinic care at Adventist Health; and Titza Suvalcu of Vancouver for adult acute care at Kaiser Permanente Northwest.

Award winners will be announced at the Nurse of the Year Awards on Oct. 24 at the Sentinel Hotel in Portland.
