Whitmire breaks Woodland school record with seven TDs in win

Woodland kept a 42-year-old school record in the family.

Eli Whitmire scored seven touchdowns Friday in a 56-21 win over Mark Morris, breaking the school record held by his father.

“It was so amazing to beat a record held by my own dad at the same school,” Eli smiled.

“I just have no words. I knew he had the ability. It was just a matter of time. He deserves the record,” replied Eli’s father.

Whitmire scored five TDs in the third quarter alone. He finished with 129 yards rushing on eight carries.

Despite many offensive and defensive penalty calls — one resulting in a touchdown being brought back — the Beavers (6-0, 4-0 2A Greater St. Helens League) had a strong showing over the Monarchs.
