WASHOUGAL — A new face joined the Washougal School Board of Directors this week.

On Tuesday, the board picked Teresa Lees, a 16-year Washougal resident, to fill the open seat for District 1. Lees, 35, said that as a parent of six children in Washougal schools she’s familiar with what’s going on in the district.

“I get that perspective on what is working and what is not working,” Lees said in a press release. “As a parent I am also able to see directly the positive effects of decisions by the board on issues such as the iPads in the classroom and the new turf field.”

The school board is also looking for applicants to fill a District 3 vacancy. Applicants must be registered voters residing in the district. For a map of Washougal’s board district boundaries, visit www.washougal.k12.wa.us/schoolboard/boardzones.htm.
