Letter: Never trust a campaign promise

Scott Weber, our current Clark County clerk, made one campaign promise to Clark County voters in 2010 — to abolish the office he was seeking. I found no record of any attempt by Weber to do so, not even through the current proposed new county charter.

Looking back over the last four years, not only has Weber embraced the need for the clerk position, he seems to have found ways to take full advantage of it. Happy to cash each monthly check of his $100,913-a-year salary, he has also opted to claim his full car allowance of $700 per month.

Weber has taken advantage of the public trust and is an embarrassment as an elected public official.
