1. Running from the undead

Dress up in your best post-apocalyptic or undead chic for Zombie Fest Run 2 Survive. Participants can choose to be a survivor or a “zombie” during this fun 5K run with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Evergreen School District Foundation. Children ages 3 to 12 can get in on the costumed fun with a “Little Zombie Run.” A festival featuring microbrews, non-alcoholic beverages and more will follow the event. The event runs 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 18 at Blue Lake Park, 20500 N.E. Marine Drive, Fairview, Ore. Registration is $50 to $60; $18 for ages 3 to 18; $7 to $10 for children’s run. 2. Hayride to the farm

Discover pumpkin people, Civil War re-enactors and a pumpkin to take home during Pomeroy Farm’s Pumpkin Lane. A hayride takes visitors through the decorated Pumpkin Lane, filled with 80 “pumpkin people,” on the way to the historic farm’s pumpkin patch. Visitors are welcomed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and 11 to 4 p.m. Sundays through Oct. 26 at the Pomeroy Farm, 20902 N.E. Lucia Falls Road, Yacolt. 3. Sunday in fall

Soprano Christina Kowalski will join pianists Michael Liu and Kathryn Hobbie, and clarinetist Igor Shakhman for “Autumn Glory,” the first concert in the Vancouver Symphony Chamber Music Series. Music selections will include songs inspired by poetry, taken from operas and pieces that require four hands on the piano. 4. Touring and tasting

Mixing a tasting tour with a treasure hunt Drink This! Vancouver is a self-guided tour with 15 stops that celebrates craft beverages and their makers, including beer, wine, coffee, tea, cider and spirits. There will also be food, live music and prizes, with proceeds donated to Second Chance Companions, a no-kill animal rescue shelter. A map will be available online or at participating venues from 4 to 9 p.m. Oct. 18 in downtown Vancouver, Main Street and Evergreen Boulevard. While admission is free, tasting fees may apply. 5. Button mash

Classic video, pinball and arcade games will be set to ‘free to play’ at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo. Filling the hall at the Oregon Convention Center, the expo will feature gaming tournaments, including the Tetris World Championships, speakers, game makers and fan panels. The retro arcade will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 18 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Portland.
