Integra service guards against computer attacks

The Columbian
Published:

Vancouver-based telecom Integra has launched a new service that automatically monitors network traffic to detect and respond to malicious “denial-of-service” attacks that use high volumes of network traffic to overwhelm a company’s network or site domain, the company said Tuesday.

Integra said its new DDoS Mitigation Service detects such attacks remotely and provides a rapid response and complete mitigation of attacks as they begin, while still allowing valid network traffic.

The company said network firewalls do not provide sufficient protection, in part because they aren’t able to distinguish between malicious network activities and those that merely appear legitimate. It said the new service is in addition to its existing Cloud Firewall Service, which is offered as part of a comprehensive security system. It is available at a monthly price to Integra customers as part of their service agreements.
