Boater access to close temporarily at Merwin Reservoir

ARIEL, Wash. — Cresap Bay boat ramp on Merwin Reservoir will be closed beginning Monday, meaning there will be no public boating access until some time in December.

Speelyai Bay Park is closed for improvements until mid-December, making that boat ramp off limits. Speelyai normally is open all year.

Cresap Bay Park stayed open beyond its usual Sept. 30 closing to compensate for Speelyai’s closure.

PacifiCorp, operator of Merwin Dam, has completed a special project on the dam and will use the Cresap Bay boat launch for a crane to be brought ashore and disassembled.

“The safest way to remove the equipment and not do any harm to existing park facilities is to use Cresap Bay boat ramp,” said Bill Joye, PacifiCorp project manager.
