Letter: Herrera Beutler skirts climate issue

The Columbian
Published: October 22, 2014, 5:00pm

At the Oct. 13 candidates’ forum at Camas High School, Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, dodged the first question about tackling climate change. It’s appalling that she would not have a position on this critical issue. Instead she talked about working to improve management of our forests. That’s valuable work, but not a full docket. Why would she avoid stating a position on climate change? To correct the head-in-the-sand obstructionism of this Congress, we need leaders willing to take on the big issues. Our congresswoman does not deserve another term.
