Vancouver — Residents strived to “Make a Difference” at volunteer events held on Saturday. On the annual Make a Difference Day, helpers from the community took part in a variety of events. Gatherings held that day included “The Butt Stops Here” cigarette and litter cleanup at Luke Jensen Sports Park, tree planting and restoration along Burnt Bridge Creek at Leverich Park, and an Uptown Village cleanup. At the Uptown Village event, the second-annual Ryan Woods Grass Roots Community Award, named for the 30-year-old community member who died from cancer in November 2012, was given to Joy Team founder Michele McKeag Larsen.
