Letter: Had enough hypocritical bragging

I just received another piece of Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler’s self-serving propaganda, financed by taxpayers. This latest flier touts her protection of senior health care. She actually voted for Rep. Paul Ryan’s, R-Wis., plan, replacing Medicare with a voucher program. Protests over this vote at a town meeting caused her to minimize public contact with her constituents.

In this latest hypocritical piece, Herrera Beutler uses the story of her child to promote her bill to help children whose families receive Medicaid. This is fine. But where is the acknowledgement that, before Obamacare, children like hers would have exhausted their lifetime health care benefit in their first year and would have been ineligible for any additional care because of pre-existing conditions? Where is her statement that she was wrong to vote against the Affordable Care Act?

Another article raises fear about cuts to home health services. These cuts were recommended by the Medicare advisory board to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse, something legislators promote — unless the Obama administration presents them.

It’s time to end her tenure as our congressional representative.
