YAKIMA — Three people were sentenced Thursday in Yakima for their roles in attacking a 79-year-old real estate agent as he showed a home.

Vern Holbrook never recovered from the attack in May 2013 and died seven months later of complications.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reported 29-year-old Daniel Blizzard was sentenced to more than 34 years in prison. He was convicted of murder. Prosecutors say he planned the attack after Holbrook called off plans to sell his real estate business.

Prosecutors say Blizzard hired Luis Gomez-Monges and Adriana Mendez to pose as homebuyers and attack Holbrook at a remote home.

Gomez-Monges was sentenced to almost 27 for his murder conviction. Mendez was sentenced to a year in jail after pleading guilty to assault and criminal assistance and testifying against the two men.
