Kingston-Edmonds ferry out of service due to leak

KINGSTON — The Kingston-Edmonds ferry is out of service because of a fuel leak.

Washington State Ferries spokeswoman Marta Coursey says 15 gallons of diesel fuel spelled from the ferry Walla Walla before service began on Monday morning. The spill created a sheen on the water.

KIRO Radio reports both the Walla Walla and the Spokane are surrounded by oil booms at the Kingston terminal.

KOMO-TV reports ferry officials have not given an estimate of when service will resume. Coursey recommends holiday travelers take the Seattle-Bainbridge or Seattle-Bremerton ferries instead.
