Homicide “person of interest” appears in Clark County court

The boyfriend of a Hillsboro, Ore., woman who was killed Friday appeared Tuesday in Clark County District Court on suspicion of being a fugitive from justice.

Eric Christopher Petersen, 24, of Hillsboro has been identified by Hillsboro police as a person of interest in the homicide investigation of the death of 24-year-old Aimie Zdrantan.

Judge Sonya Langsdorf ordered Tuesday that Petersen be held without bail in Clark County Jail during extradition proceedings against him.

Authorities have asked that he be returned to Oregon on suspicion of a probation violation. Petersen contested his extradition Tuesday. That means Oregon will have to issue a governor’s warrant to request his return to that state.

His arraignment on a charge of being a fugitive from justice is scheduled for Oct. 1 in front of Langsdorf.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies arrested Petersen near La Center late Saturday on a probation violation warrant.

Zdrantan was found dead shortly before noon Friday, after Hillsboro police were dispatched to a reported stabbing at the Minter Bridge Square apartment complex, 1821 S.E. Minter Bridge Road.

Police requested the public’s help in locating Petersen, calling him “armed and dangerous” in a Saturday press release.
