Letter: Compare each fair share

The Columbian
Published: September 1, 2014, 5:00pm

There is currently much whining about American corporations “not paying their fair share” of taxes. But what is their fair share?

Corporations do not produce children, so place no burden on schools or prisons. They don’t run red lights or pedal drugs in “the hood,” so they present zero costs to the police. They provide jobs for millions, and pay millions in local taxes, while producing goods that we voluntarily purchase.

Compare that with what government “does for us.” Government constantly interferes in the internal affairs of other nations, which often leads to war; forces us to buy politically packaged “health care”; forces us to pay taxes on property we can never own (because if we don’t pay the taxes they will take the property from us); forces us to burn a nasty, corrosive chemical in our cars (ethanol) that produces, when burned, nasty cancer and asthma-causing byproducts; and indoctrinates our offspring in government-run schools as mandated by Karl Marx and his “Communist Manifesto.”

And of course, with the help of the pandering lame stream media, they constantly pedal lies to us, lies which are accepted as truth by the aforementioned indoctrinated products of “public education.”

Need one say more?
