Letter: Determined officers praised

The Columbian
Published: September 1, 2014, 5:00pm

When we returned from the beach over the July 4 weekend we found our home had been robbed. It was one of the most traumatic and certainly the largest violation that we have experienced while living in Vancouver. We immediately contacted the Vancouver Police Department, which dispatched an officer to our home.

Throughout this incident we have been consistently impressed and appreciative of how hard the officers involved have worked, and how persistent they have been during the investigation. Officers Osorio, Jennings, and Nicholson have been nothing but professional, determined, and a great help to us.

We got a break two days after the robbery when someone identified the person who had burglarized our home. I contacted the police who went to the home of the informant and found a few of our possessions. An officer interviewed the accused and was able to get an address where a few more items were located, and recovered another item at a cash-for-gold store.

The man who perpetrated the crime was a family friend since the age of 4 years. He is now 34 and a heroin addict. His addiction has turned him into a person we no longer know or recognize. He has now been charged with 25 felonies.

We cannot say enough kind words about our police department and these three officers. We are proud to live in this city.
