Eight local community leaders will take the stage to show off their best dance moves at Dancing with the Local Stars, a fundraiser for the Fort Vancouver National Trust. Each dancer is paired with a professional dance instructor and will receive complimentary dance lessons from Arthur Murray Dance Studios. The trust anticipates this year’s dancing event to be the most unpredictable and competitive to date. The star who raises the most money is crowned the dancing champion, thus the community is encouraged to “vote” with their dollars for their favorite dancer.

“I’m not sure how they picked me other than maybe they thought they were asking Lou Piniella,” Brancaccio said. “Now that Lou can dance…. albeit mostly with umpires.”

The fundraiser is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday at the Hilton Vancouver Washington in downtown Vancouver. Doors open at 5 p.m. Ticket information is available at fortvan.org/dwtls.html.

The Vancouver stars for this year are Brancaccio, Katie Atkins-Castillo, J. Scott Campbell, Dave Henderson, Pat Jollota, Heidi Scarpelli, Patti Westby and Dan Wyatt. Find more information about the contestants on the website.
