An Oregon man involved in a July head-on crash that seriously injured a Battle Ground man was arrested today.

Trevor Hughes, 26, of Rhododendron, Ore., turned himself in to the Oregon State Police Portland office today and was taken to the Clackamas County Jail on suspicion of second- and third-degree assault and driving under the influence related to the July 30 crash.

Hughes was behind the wheel of a 1994 Ford pickup that was traveling east on Highway 26 when it crossed the center turn lane, colliding with a westbound 2004 Subaru Legacy station wagon, according to Oregon State Police.

The driver of the station wagon, John “Jack” Fletcher, 18, of Battle Ground, was extricated and taken via LifeFlight to OHSU Medical Center with critical injuries. He continues to receive treatment for his injuries.

Hughes was also injured in the crash and was taken by ground ambulance to OHSU for treatment of minor injuries.
