Wind gusts up to 26 mph, a high temperature that hovered just below 90 degrees and days of dry weather combined to invigorate a series of small grass fires Friday.

Local fire agencies responded to seven grass or brush fires between 1 and 6 p.m., according to 911 dispatch logs.

The Vancouver Fire Department went to four of the fires.

The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a Red Flag Warning about fire conditions in Southwest Washington and Western Oregon, effective through today.

Today’s weather looks to be the same as Friday, perhaps warmer, before temperatures cool on Sunday. No rain is in the forecast.
