Starting next week, the Woodland Chamber of Commerce will host a weekly series of public luncheons with political candidates from Southwest Washington.

Each Tuesday through Oct. 28, opposing candidates will share the floor for an hour, and anyone is welcome to attend and get to know the candidates. The luncheons are at noon at the Oak Tree Restaurant, 1020 Atlantic Ave. in Woodland.

The first series on Sept. 16 will feature incumbent Cowlitz County Prosecutor Sue Baur, who’s running as a Democrat, and her challenger, Ryan Jurvakainen, a Cowlitz County public defender who’s running as an independent.

The series will also highlight a number of candidates from Clark County. On Sept. 23, former Vancouver city Councilor Jeanne Stewart, a Republican running for the open county commission seat, will share her speaking time with her opponent, former state Sen. Craig Pridemore, a Democrat.

On Oct. 14, attendees will get a chance to meet 3rd Congressional District candidates Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, and Bob Dingethal, her Democratic opponent from Ridgefield.
