Camas/Washougal — More than $4,500 worth of backpacks and other school supplies were donated for the Camas-Washougal Rotary Club’s annual Backpack Project.

The donations are enough to benefit 220 children in need at schools in both cities. When it began nine years ago, the program netted only 25 backpacks. It’s grown steadily since then.

“Our hope is to continue to grow the program and increase the number of families served,” said Rotary Club President Molly Coston in a press release.
