Letter: Hold deposit on perennial signs

I have an idea that will cut down on the visual pollution that is caused by political signs. Make it a law or ordinance that whenever a candidate or proposition sponsor registers, they should be required to make a deposit of $5,000 to $10,000 to an escrow fund. Political signs are to be put up no sooner than one month before an election and taken down one week after the election. Signs that are not taken down within this week will be collected by city and county workers and the candidate’s escrow fund will be charged an amount based on the square footage of the removed signs.

I am looking forward to a landscape that is much nicer than it is now.
