SEATTLE — Lt. Gov. Brad Owen has agreed to pay $10,000 to settle accusations of ethics violations.

The Seattle Times reported the settlement announced Friday with the Washington State Executive Ethics Board will save Owen $5,000 if he commits no other ethics violations in the next two years.

Owen says he agreed to the settlement “merely to put an end to a frustrating process.”

The board says Owen mixed his official duties with his nonprofit organization Strategies for Youth. The board says he used state staff to schedule the group’s meetings, held meetings in his state office and hired one of the nonprofit’s workers.
