TACOMA — Pierce County sheriff’s detectives know this much: a first date ended with a Gig Harbor man dead and his date hospitalized in critical condition.

The News Tribune reports that investigators think the 47-year-old Port Orchard woman ran over her date, then crashed his truck 15 feet down an embankment. But sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer says they haven’t been able to interview her because of her medical condition.

The Pierce County medical examiner’s office has identified the dead man as 53-year-old Leon Shaw.

The sheriff’s office says the man and his date hadn’t known each other for more than a few hours before they visited the home of one of Shaw’s friends last weekend. The couple reportedly had been drinking.

The woman reportedly asked the friend, a tattoo artist, to tattoo her chest. Troyer says she and Shaw apparently got into a fight over her contact with the tattoo artist. Wearing only a T-shirt, the woman fled the house and started Shaw’s truck. Troyer says Shaw ran outside to see what she was doing. When Shaw’s friend came outside moments later, Troyer says Shaw was dead in the driveway.
