A Battle Ground woman suffered serious injuries Tuesday evening when the motor home she was in veered off the road and struck a power pole south of Ridgefield.

Cody Franklin, 24, also of Battle Ground, was driving the motor home and pulling a loaded utility trailer north on Northeast 10th Avenue when the trailer began to fishtail, said Clark County sheriff’s Sgt. Chad Rothenberger. The trailer and motor home left the roadway and hit a power pole near Northeast 184th Street.

At the time, Camille Langdon, 23, was unbuckled in the back of the motor home, Rothenberger said. Firefighters removed her from the crumpled vehicle, and sent her to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in an ambulance. Her injuries were not life-threatening, though she had a significant laceration on her face, Rothenberger said. Franklin was sent to the hospital with minor injuries.

The crash shattered the motor home and its trailer, leaving behind a large debris trail. The power pole wasn’t severed, but it did have some cracks in it, said Clark County Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Tim Dawdy.

Franklin told sheriff’s deputies that he wasn’t sure what had happened. He didn’t show signs of impairment and wasn’t speeding at the time of the crash, Rothenberger said.

“I’m not sure there was any negligence involved,” Rothenberger said.

Franklin was, however, arrested and booked into the Clark County Jail on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
