Disaster training open to Fire Dist. 6 residents

Want to learn what to do during a local disaster? Clark County Fire District 6 is enrolling students in its upcoming Community Emergency Response Team Training.

Students learn disaster preparedness and psychology, basic fire suppression, disaster medical operations, light urban search and rescue, terrorism awareness and emergency communications. The course includes two Saturdays where students test skills during a disaster simulation drill.

Tuition is $30 and includes a hard hat, vest, gloves and protective eye wear. To participate, fill out the registration form found online at www.ccfd6.org/cert.html and turn it in at Fire District 6 headquarters, 8800 N.E. Hazel Dell Ave. Participants must be at least 18 years old and register by Friday.

CERT class schedule:

• 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25.

• 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2.

• 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4.

• 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9.

• 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16.

• 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23.

• 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25.
