Vancouver Heights — A big crowd turned out to see a tiny house on Sept. 6. Author and urban trendsetter Dee Williams of Olympia brought her diminutive domicile on wheels to Vintage Books, 6613 E. Mill Plain, to answer questions about the tiny-house lifestyle, give “tours” of the 84-square-foot structure and read from her popular new book, “The Big Tiny: A Built-It-Myself Memoir.”

More than 200 people lined up to get a glimpse of Williams’ little home, and about half of them tried to squeeze into the bookstore — comfortably seats about 30 — for the reading afterwards. The squeeze was, at least, appropriate to the subject matter, according to bookstore owner Pepper Parker and event organizer Sally Fisher of Clark County Environmental Services.
