Letter: Allegations are diversion tactic

The Columbian

Seems opponents of the proposed Clark County Charter will stoop to just about anything to scare voters. Their slogan is “Stop the Charter Train.” They claim charter backers are merely Columbia River Crossing, light rail and toll supporters trying some unethical backdoor trick to revive these issues. Opponents even think they see a subliminal light rail image in the Charter Yes! yard sign graphic. I kid you not — I actually heard this in a presentation.

By raising bogus allegations, opponents are hoping to confuse voters and divert their attention from what the charter really says: Separating policymaking from policy implementation, giving voters the powers of initiative and referendum, and for the first time letting voters of a district be the only ones to vote on who will represent them. Read the charter to learn what it really states. And if you can find any reference to tolls, the CRC or light rail, let me know. You will find me staring at my yard sign trying to see the light rail image.
