Letter: Unreasonable controls with I-594

I read with interest the story that disclosed how most of the Democrats in Southwest Washington were supporters of Initiative 594, the gun-control initiative. I-594 is a scam perpetrated by a few super-rich millionaires and billionaires who can afford armed private security escorts and can afford to front the bill for this initiative. Very few dollars come from grass-roots citizen efforts.

This oppressive initiative is not supported by rank-and-file law enforcement officers of the state. It’s packed with onerous provisions that do nothing to reduce crime while placing highly restrictive provisions on law-abiding people. The initiative’s main provision should raise the hackles of every voter. What seems reasonable on the surface turns out to be de facto registration. Every firearm transaction will be recorded in a database. Then all it will take is to pass legislation so that the specific firearms become illegal and subject to confiscation. This is tyranny at its best. It is happening in other states as we speak.

When we get our ballots in the mail, remember Democrats stand for tyranny and Republicans stand for freedom. The choice is clear.
