Letter: Evils in history also repeat

The Columbian

Those Islamic State creatures in the Middle East remind me of the Ustashi. They were Croat allies of Hitler who ran a puppet state in Yugoslavia after the Nazi invasion in 1941.

The Ustashi terrorized the Serbian minority population, forcing them at gunpoint to convert to Catholicism and demolishing their churches. Of these 2 million people the stated policy was to convert a third of them, kill a third, and deport the rest. It became so barbaric that the Germans were appalled. This was quite something, given their own gruesome reputation.

Ante Pavelic, the Croat dictator who unleashed the slaughter, escaped to South America after the war. His journey was assisted by networks of unholy Catholic priests.

As we can see, Islam is not the only religion ever to be profaned by evil followers.
