Letter: Reject new rules of charter

The Columbian
Published: September 26, 2014, 5:00pm

My son was building a private arena but required to pay exorbitant public-use permit and inspection fees that were specifically for “commercial use” arenas. The bureaucracy wanted permit fees and would not waiver on one built for private use. It was only because Clark County commissioners went directly to the department and required them to comply with what they had passed legislatively that he was spared.

With the proposed Clark County charter, they could only ask the nonelected county manager for relief.

Do not lose the right of your elected representative to intercede for you. Vote “no” on the charter.
