A school bus rear-ended a vehicle Monday morning on state Route 503 near Padden Parkway, injuring the driver of the vehicle, according to Washington State Patrol. No students were aboard the bus.

Sharon Jones was driving a 2006 Ford School Bus, an ESD 112 specialized transportation bus, south on state Highway 503 approaching Padden Parkway about 9:15 a.m., according to a memo released by state patrol.

While in the yield lane to take a right turn, the bus struck a stopped 1986 Honda Accord that was also in the yield lane, according to Trooper Will Finn.

Jones had been looking east and did not see the car in her path, Finn said.

The driver of the Accord, Mirna Castrejon, 59, of Vancouver was injured and taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Her condition was not available.

Jones was cited on suspicion of driver inattention and following too closely.
