Multiple highway crashes snarl traffic

Several crashes on Clark County highways bogged down the evening commute Wednesday.

A tractor-trailer and car crashed on Interstate 205 at Padden Parkway at 3:49 p.m. Nobody was injured, but troopers arrested the tractor-trailer driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Will Finn.

At 4:24 p.m., a pickup pulling an overloaded trailer on state Highway 14 in Camas crashed when one of its tires blew out. The eastbound pickup spun around and struck the guardrail, which temporarily blocked the eastbound lanes, Finn said. No one was injured.

Fifteen minutes later, a hit-and-run crash was reported on state Highway 503 at Padden Parkway. Nobody was injured in the collision involving a mint-green Chrysler passenger car. About 10 minutes after that, three cars crashed in the same area.

At 5:14 p.m., a hit-and-run crash occurred on I-205 northbound, just south of Mill Plain. The non-injury collision blocked the right lane, Finn said.

When there’s multiple crashes around the county, motorists should be patient and aware of emergency vehicles, Finn said.
