The trial for a Vancouver man accused of causing a chain of vehicle crashes that mortally injured a Camas man in December on Interstate 205 was pushed back to May.

Joshua C. Frahm, 28, who faces charges of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, hit-and-run injury, false reporting and conspiracy to commit perjury, appeared in Clark County Superior Court on Thursday for a trial readiness hearing.

His trial was originally scheduled to start Monday.

The prosecution and Frahm’s defense agreed to postpone the trial because witness interviews have not yet been completed.

On Dec. 7, Rich Irvine, 63, pulled over his vehicle to the right shoulder of northbound I-205 near Burton Road, got out and crossed the highway to help a Battle Ground man whose Honda CRV had been rear-ended by a Ford F-150 pickup. The pickup’s driver fled the scene and later reported his truck stolen, according to police. Investigators later identified Frahm as the driver.

While Irvine was on the phone with 911, a Honda Odyssey minivan driven by Fredy Delacruz-Moreno, 41, of Seattle collided with the passenger side of the CRV, which was blocking part of the highway. The impact thrust the CRV into Irvine.

Irvine died of his injuries Dec. 19.

Delacruz-Moreno is not facing any charges.
