TUKWILA — A King County Sheriff’s Office K-9 named Jimmy was struck and killed early Saturday by a vehicle along state Highway 599 in South Park.

The 2-year-old black German Shepherd had been working with the sheriff’s office since November. He was not tracking when he was struck.

Officials said Deputy Travis Brunner and Jimmy were at Cecil Moses Park in Tukwila at about 1 a.m. getting some exercise while on shift. Jimmy had his harness and strobe light on but got through a break in the fence and onto state Highway 99. He was struck by a semi-truck.
