A 29-year-old man suspected of leading Clark County sheriff’s deputies on a chase while riding an all-terrain vehicle pleaded not guilty Monday.

Kenneth Edward Gill of Vancouver is charged with felony attempt to elude and methamphetamine possession. He also entered a not-guilty plea to motor vehicle theft stemming from a March 28 incident.

Gill is accused of driving an olive green ATV south on Northeast Highway 99 in Hazel Dell on the evening of April 9. Pursuing officers attempted to slow the ATV by boxing it in. The driver then reportedly rammed a patrol vehicle, breaking a taillight, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The chase, which went on for about 10 minutes, ended near the intersection of Northeast Minnehaha Street and Northeast St. Johns Road when the driver tried to jump a curb and rolled the ATV.

Deputies reportedly found a glass pipe in Gill’s backpack that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, according to court documents.

Gill’s trial is scheduled to start July 6. He is scheduled to be tried in the theft case June 8.
