Spotlight on Youth

2015 HEALTH CHAMPION

Bryce Hackett, a senior at Columbia River High School, has been recognized as a 2015 Health Champion in the Outstanding Student category by the Washington State Public Health Association. As the youth representative on the Clark County Public Health Advisory Council, Hackett is a leader in protecting and promoting public health. Recently, he testified before the Clark County Board of Health about the harmful effects of electronic vaping devices and testified in Olympia in favor of restricting youth access to e-cigarettes. He is enrolled in advanced courses at Clark College, and working toward his goal of a degree in bioengineering and global health technologies. He will be master of ceremonies during the 2015 Youth Achievement Celebration on June 14 at Skyview High School.

OLYMPIA PAGE PROGRAM

Spencer Gwinn, a student from La Center High School, served as a page in the state House of Representatives last month. He was sponsored by Rep. Richard DeBolt, R-Chehalis. Spencer is the son of David and Anita Gwinn of Amboy.

Andrew Sagert, a home-schooled student from Vancouver, recently served as a page for the Washington State Senate, sponsored by Sen. Don Benton, R-Vancouver. Andrew is the son of Trent and Erika Sagert of Vancouver.
