The city of Woodland will cut down access to the Horseshoe Lake Park picnic shelter during the colder months in light of a struggle to keep vandals away.

City officials made the announcement Wednesday in a news release, highlighting an ongoing effort to clamp down on vandalism at the park. Public works crews recently installed roll-up doors and coverings so the city can lock up the structure.

So far, the city plans to keep the shelter open at all times from Memorial Day to Labor Day. After that, it will only be open for those who reserve the spot with a special-use permit.

If the problem continues, the city may ramp up restrictions once again. For more information or to make a reservation, contact the city at 360-225-8281.
