Letter: Admire our citizens’ achievements

On April 18 hundreds of eager volunteers filled Salmon Creek Greenway to help the Vancouver StreamTeam pull garlic mustard and plant native trees and shrubs. To all of those volunteers who came out and worked, thank you for your hard work and effort. Many thanks to those thoughtful businesses that helped sponsor the Earth Day event.

I am so grateful to live in a community where people see the benefits of taking action and being involved. Kudos to all of the StreamTeam leaders who did an excellent job organizing and directing the event.

Both of my children had a memorable, valuable and educational experience which we will treasure. At the end of day, as my son and I sat on a log watching the tadpoles and admiring our accomplishments, he proudly told me, “Mom, I love nature. I love that we can help the Earth. We need to do this more often.” That is what it is all about.
