A body found earlier this month on the bank of the Columbia River near Kalama has been identified as a cook who may have jumped from the ship he was working on, officials said.
The deceased man was identified as Aung Kyaw Thu Tun, a 37-year-old resident of Myanmar, according to the Cowlitz County Coroner’s Office.
Tun was reported missing on Dec. 24 when he did not report for duty on the MV Unico Stella, a ship docked near the Temco Grain terminal in Kalama, according to the coroner’s office.
A fisherman found the body in the early morning hours of April 16, and it was identified as Tun on Monday.
