HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) — The Washington County, Oregon, sheriff’s office confirms that three deputies have been placed on paid administrative leave during an inquiry into accusations of sexual misconduct.

The Oregonian reports Sgt. Bob Ray said Monday that Portland police are investigating. The allegations came in an April 17 unsigned letter to the sheriff’s office and to the newspaper.

Ray did not identify the deputies. In the letter, two are accused of engaging in sex acts on duty. It wasn’t clear why the third deputy was under investigation.

In a statement, Sheriff Pat Garrett said trust and integrity “are paramount, and if anything happens to put that at risk, we will correct it.”

Ray says the investigations will take some time to complete.

Washington County is west of Portland.
