A firefighter and an animal control officer helped rescue a dog named Penny from a patch of blackberry bushes Sunday morning.

Penny had escaped from her owner while she was on a walk and then slipped down a steep hillside into the brambles, according a post on Clark County Fire District 6’s Facebook page. Engine 61 and Clark County Animal Control responded to help.

Firefighter Jeff Peterson and Animal Control officer Bill Burrus pushed through the blackberries and scaled the hillside to get to Penny, returning her to her owner, according to the Facebook post.

Penny and her helpers posed for a picture after the rescue.

Fire District 6 covers parts of Hazel Dell, Felida, Salmon Creek and the Fairgrounds area.
