Vancouver — Vancouver veterinarian Thomas F. Meyer has been named president-elect of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Meyer and his wife own Mountain View Veterinary Hospital, a mixed-animal practice in Salmon Creek that employs five veterinarians.

Meyer, who was named to the president-elect position in July, will succeed President Joseph H. Kinnarney.

As president-elect, Meyer will assist the president in supervising the business affairs of the association. He will also serve on the association’s Board of Governors, which acts as the executive committee of the association. Meyer will become association president in 2016, when the current president’s term expires.

Meyers received his doctor of veterinary medicine degree from the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Central Washington State College and a master’s degree in zoology from WSU.
