A transient man accused of pushing a woman onto the ground in order to steal her purse appeared in Clark County Superior Court on Monday.

Travis M. Stacy, 23, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery stemming from the Sunday morning incident.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the victim was walking south on Northeast 107th Avenue near Southeast Fourth Street in Vancouver when Stacy allegedly approached from behind, grabbed her and pushed her to the ground. He stole her purse and ran from the scene, court records said.

Police subsequently found Stacy near Mill Plain Boulevard and the Interstate 205 overpass. The victim positively identified him as the man who attacked her, court records said.

On Monday, Judge Derek Vanderwood appointed attorney Jeff Staples to represent Stacy.

Stacy’s bail was set at $50,000. He is scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 21.
